Two ways into the same accounting
In the Assistant menu item you ask about revenue, open items or the next advance VAT return, typed or by voice input. Below the answer you see which data was read for it; ZepDesk builds this line itself, not the language model. If something is to be changed, a card appears that you confirm.
For access you choose your Claude subscription or an Anthropic key, your ChatGPT subscription or an OpenAI key, or your own endpoint with an OpenAI-compatible interface.
With the Model Context Protocol (MCP) you connect Claude and other MCP-capable programs directly to your ZepDesk company. The AI reads through a fixed set of read tools.
It can write only as a proposal. You accept or reject it in ZepDesk; there is no tool for confirming through MCP.
Connect Claude in three steps.
Each company has its own address, in the form https://your-company.zepdesk.de/api/mcp. It is ready to copy in ZepDesk.
An OAuth access is created by the company's administrators. Programs that cannot do OAuth are connected with an access key from the same view.

What the AI reads, what it proposes, what it may never do
Overview figures, invoices and quotes, customers, open items, receipts, bank accounts and transactions, EÜR, advance VAT returns and the annual VAT return, OSS, trade and corporate income tax, deadlines, shareholders and profit distribution. Only from this company, nothing from another.
Entries, new records and changes. They take effect only when a person confirms them in ZepDesk, under that person's name and with that person's permissions. An email needs confirmation for every single send.
A proposal waits for a person's decision. Only the click on Approve (Genehmigen) triggers the action, under that person's name.
Trigger a filing with the tax office, manage company data or users, store credentials for bank or till, give approvals under the four-eyes principle. Through MCP every filing is blocked; in the assistant a person files, not the AI.

All questions and answersDo I need my own subscription or key?
In the AI settings you choose the access: Claude subscription, Anthropic key, ChatGPT subscription, OpenAI key or your own endpoint. With your own subscription or key, the provider bills you directly; without your own access, a shared access from ZeptronIT with the same provider can be used. There you also see whether the sign-in is valid, and the usage ZepDesk has counted in the current month.
Can the AI post entries without me?
No. The assistant only works in guided mode: every change shows a card that you confirm. There is no mode in which the AI works on its own. Through MCP the AI can at most create a proposal.
Which programs can connect through MCP?
Claude in the browser or as an app connects via OAuth. Programs that cannot do OAuth connect with an access key. Each connection applies only to the company the address belongs to.
How do I block an access again?
In the MCP view you revoke an OAuth access, in the Access view an access key. A revoked OAuth access also loses the sign-ins that were already issued.
